SUBJECT:
Poly V-Belt Noise

MODELS:
All with M50 or M60 Engines

Situation:
A chirping or whistling noise may be heard coming from the poly V-belt which drives the water pump, generator and power steering pump.

Correction:
A new poly V-belt with an improved rubber composition has been phased into production as of approximately 7/93 on E34 and E36 vehicles with M50 engines and 3/93 on E32 and E34 vehicles with M60 engines. If the chirping or whistling noise complaint is received on vehicles produced prior to the above dates the new style belt can be installed.

Parts Information:
All early style poly V-belts for M50 and M60 engines have been purged from the Parts Distribution Centers and are no longer available.
