Alarm Installation Instructions for 5 Series Touring Models

MODELS:
525iT, 530iT

Situation:
Instructions for the installation of the BMW Remote Control Vehicle Security System (P/N 90 88 1 600 306) state that the programmable dip switch for the trunk switch should be set to "POS" for 5 Series (E34) installations.





Correction:
Although all other 5 Series (E34) should have the dip switch (in the Alarm Control Module) for the trunk switch set to "POS," the 525i-T and 530iT trunk switches complete a ground circuit, and therefore must be set to "NEG" when the module is installed. Refer to illustration.

Warranty Status:
As the adjustment of the switches on the Alarm Control Module is included in the time allowed for installation, no labor should be claimed for this adjustment.
