Throttle Plate - PFI: Adjustments


PREPARATION
1. Remove the intake air bellows from the throttle valve neck.
2. Open the throttle valve completely and clean the the throttle bore with a shop cloth.

CHECKING
3. Insert a 0.0015 in. feeler gauge into the throttle valve bore and let the throttle valve plate gently shut against the feeler gauge.

The feeler gauge should be able to be pulled out with a light drag.
The feeler gauge should not slip out or stick in the bore.

ADJUST

NOTE: The basic throttle valve position should only need adjustment if the factory setting has been changed.

4. If the clearance is incorrect loosen the throttle stop clamping nut.
5. Let the stop lever slide until the throttle plate just touches the bore.
6. Open the throttle plate far enough to reinstall the feeler gauge and let the throttle plate gently shut against the gauge.
7. Push the throttle stop adjusting lever against the throttle plate lever until the feeler gauge can be pulled out with slight drag.
8. Apply sealing paint to the stop lever clamping nut.
