SUBJECT:
Engine Oil and Coolant Level Checking

MODELS:
E36

Situation:
The oil and coolant levels are extremely important for the operation and service life of an engine, and should be checked regularly.

As outlined in the Owner's Manual, BMW recommends that the engine oil level should be checked whenever the vehicle is being refueled. This is especially critical for models without an oil level monitoring or check control system which checks the various fluid levels, i.e., 318i/is and 325i/is. Sales and service personnel should remind customers to check the fluid levels regularly as outlined in the Owner's Manual, thus avoiding any engine damage.
