SUBJECT: IHKR Air Conditioning Control Faceplate

MODELS: E36


Situation:
Several complaints have been received concerning the air conditioning control faceplate on some early production E36 vehicles:

1. The "sticker" on the front of the plastic panel showing control positions/ functions may come loose or blister during hot weather.

2. The heated rear window (defogger grid) may come on simultaneously when pressing the air conditioning button. It can be switched off by pressing the heated rear window button.

3. A few cars have been shipped with "metric" or Celsius markings for the two temperature control knobs. The correct designations are Fahrenheit and the numbers should range from 64 to 80 degrees.

Solution:
For all above cases, replace the IHKR control panel.
