SUBJECT: Central Locking Module (ZVM)

MODEL: 3 Series (E36)

ZVM - Inputs and Outputs:

The 3 Series (E36) vehicles are equipped with a Central Locking Module (ZVM) which incorporates control of the following systems:

- Interior Lighting
- Door Lock Heating (if so equipped)
- Central Locking with Double Lock
- Output Relay for Power Windows/Sunroof
- Electronic Power Protection

In addition, the ZVM contains a fault memory with self-diagnostics. It is accessed with the Diagnostic Module or MoDiC.

The consolidation of the control of several systems into one control unit expands the versatility of these systems and minimizes power requirements, and the incorporation of the diagnostic link results in more efficient and accurate troubleshooting.
