Audio Amplifier/Speakers Replacement Part Numbers

MODELS:
E36 (10/91 and later production), E31

Situation:
The stereo audio amplifier in the E36 has been redesigned, and implemented into production as of 10/91. The wiring harness has changed, and the new and old amplifiers are not compatible or interchangeable. In addition, the rear speakers have been modified to accomodate this change, and are also not compatible or interchangeable.

Similar changes will be implemented in production on the E31. This SI will be updated as soon as information becomes available.

Solution:
E36 vehicles produced 10/91 and E31 vehicles (at a future date) will require the new amplifier and/or speakers. Vehicles produced prior to these dates require the amplifier listed in the parts film.
