Aluminum Shift Lever Console

- Remove exhaust assembly.
- Unscrew heat shield and reinforcement carrier.
- Remove shift lever.





- Unscrew threaded sleeve several turns with Special Tool 26 1 040.

Installation Note:
Tighten threaded sleeve with Special Tool 26 1 040 after finishing installation.





- Unscrew center mount.

Installation Note:
Preload center mount forward by distance A = 4 to 6 mm (0.157 to 0.236 in).





- Support transmission.
- Unscrew cross member.
- Lower transmission to front axle carrier.





- Unscrew bracket.

Installation Note:
Lubricate support with grease.
Engage bracket in retaining tabs.





- Take wires for backup lights out of holder.





- Lift out clip on shaft bolt.

NOTE:
Clip is accessible with a screwdriver.

- Disconnect clip in retaining tab by turning and swing up.





- Pull out shaft bolt.
- Take off shift console.

Installation Note:





Lubricate bearing sleeve with grease and press it into new console
