The M MPH Button

The BMW On-Board Computer II

The M MPH Button

The M MPH button is used to set, and display, a maximum speed limit. When engaged, the LED on the button will glow. When the driver has reached, or exceeded the pre-set speed, a gong will sound and the LED will flash as a warning.

To enter a desired maximum speed, press the M MPH button once. then enter the information with the numbered buttons. Press the M MPH button once again, the LED will come on, and the system will be activated.

If the preset speed limit is exceeded, the gong will sound and the LED will flash. It is not necessary to be in the M MPH function to receive a speed limit warning.

The warning will not however, sound again unless the speed drops at least three miles per hour below the pre-determined limit, and then passes back up through the set speed limit.

To de-activate the system. the computer display must be in the M MPH function. Press the button once more. The LED will go out, and there will no longer be a speed limit warning.

However, this does not erase the memory. The speed that was entered will remain in the memory until a new speed is programmed in. The memory will revert to zero only if power is interrupted or if the language is changed.
