Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
- Draw off brake fluid in tank with a syringe used exclusively with brake fluids.- Pull off plugs.
- Pull off clutch hydraulic hose (1).
- Disconnect brake lines (2 and 3).
^ 1st brake circuit (left front and right front).
^ 2nd brake circuit (right rear and left rear).
- Remove and install instrument panel trim at bottom left.
- Disconnect spring.
- Press off clip (3) and pull out pin (4).
- Disconnect brake booster on pedal base.
- Remove brake booster with master cylinder forward.
Installation note:
- Tightening torque: 22-24 Nm (16-18 ft lb).
- Adjust stop light switch.
- If filter screen in brake booster is clogged with dirt, remove cap (1), holder (2), damper (3) and filter (4).
Installation note:
- Clean damper and filter.
- Turn slots of damper and filter to be offset to each other by 180°.
- Basic adjustment distance A on piston rod = 125 mm (4.921 in).
Installation note:
- Adjust brake pedal.
- Unscrew tandem brake master cylinder on brake booster.
Installation note:
- Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 ft lb).
- Check rubber ring (7) between tandem brake master cylinder and brake booster, replacing if necessary.
- Reverse procedure to install.
- Bleed brakes. Service and Repair
