SUBJECT: Brake Light Switch Noise
MODELS: E32, E34 (All); E30 (from 9/89)
Situation: Occasional complaints of "clicking" noise coming from the brake light switch.
Cause: When the brake light switch is activated, two "snap action" contact elements can produce a clicking sound, with the plastic switch housing acting as a resonant chamber.
Correction: Wrap the brake light switch in 1/2" thick polyurethane foam (available locally) and secure with tape.

Note: Any application of oil or grease to this switch is not permitted. Destruction of the switch will result.
