SUBJECT: BMW Special Tools
The following special tools have been developed to ensure professional repair work, and will be sent to all Automotive BMW Dealers under the Automatic Tool Shipment Program.
Due to the confined area around the cylinders #'s 5, 6, 11, and 12 on the M70 Motor, a special adapter hose has been developed to facilitate compression testing. It is used in conjunction with the compression plotter (P/N 88 88 6 110 160).
In order to test the E32 Models equipped with the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), a jumper plug is required in conjunction with the two test adapters illustrated in SI 04 10 84 (960).
A Torx Driver (T10) has been developed to remove and replace the rear power distribution box cover on the E32.
A special Torx Driver (T25, 65 mm long) has been developed to ease removal and replacement of E32 left and right seat trim panels. It can also be used to open and close the manually operated sunroof.
The following tools will not be included in the Automatic Tool Shipment but may be ordered directly from your Parts Distribution Center.
In order to replace the gas pressurized springs on E30 seats, a special tool has been developed.
Due to a design modification in the differential of BMW Models 535i, 735i, and 750iL, a new mounting bracket is necessary for the differential assembly. It is to be used in conjunction with the BMW assembly stand P/N 88 88 6 001 490.
