SUBJECT: E 34 (5 Series) General Information/Specifications
MODELS: 525i, 535i
After a production period lasting just under seven years, the E 28 has been superseded by the new E 34. This new car continues the rejuvenation of the complete BMW model range, which started with the 7 Series (E 32), and is a full-size but compactly designed sedan of sporting character.
Typical BMW visual accents such as the "kidney-pattern" center grille and the twin-unit round headlights have been retained, but the aerodynamics are very much improved ((c)D now in the region of 0.30), so that performance is even more impressive than before.
Interior space, particularly in the rear seat area, has been expanded considerably, as a result of the car's increased overall dimensions.
Several systems, which were introduced on the E32, are also found on the E 34, such as, Instrument Cluster/Check Control, On-Board Computer (OBC) IV and Central Body Electronics (ZKE).
