SUBJECT:
Front Axle Camber Adjustment

MODELS:
All

Situation:
Eccentric front axle support bushings are available through the parts system for correcting camber in the range of +/-30'. The part numbers for these bushings can be found in the appropriate parts fiche or Parts Bulletin.

Specific installation instructions for each model series are available in the applicable Repair Manual, Section 32 - Camber Correction.

If excessive wear of the front tires across the tread toward the outside of the tire is noted, the wear may be minimized by setting the camber to the maximum negative setting permissible, and the toe to the minimum setting, as found in the Technical Data fiche.

Example:
E-32 Specifications

Camber: -13' +/- 30'

Toe-in: 18' +/- 5'

Set camber to -43' and toe-in to 13'

Note:
Since tire tread wear on the front wheels tends (for design reasons) to be slightly more rapid on the outer shoulders, this procedure will only minimize this type of wear, not eliminate it.

Tires on vehicles that are subjected to hard or high speed cornering will tend to wear the outside shoulders only, and the above procedure will have little effect on vehicles subjected to this type of usage.
