1. Raise and support rear of vehicle and trailing arm using a suitable jack. Remove lower shock end mounting bolt at arm, Fig. 8.
2. Remove centering plate from upper end in wheel house area.
3. Remove assembly.
4. Compress coil spring using suitable tool, then disassemble shock absorber from coil spring.
5. When assembling, make sure spring ends line up with notches in rubber spring insulator.
6. Install assembly with damping ring on top end.
