Air Bag Safety Switch/Connector: Service and Repair

WARNING: Review Service Precautions. Improper handling could cause activation of the airbag(s) and lead to injuries!

REMOVE
- Disconnect battery and cover negative pole or terminal.
- A waiting period of approximately 5 minutes should be observed before beginning electrical work to allow the capacitor charge to dissipate.





- Remove lower steering column trim section.
- Disconnect plug connection for airbag (orange).





- Open the cover, take off the plug and unscrew the screws.

NOTE: Opening the cover will destroy the safety switch, which must then be replace.

- Screw on the new safety switch.
- Insert the plug.
- Push the contact bridge toward the plug.
- Close the cover.
