Fig. 18 Idle Control Valve:

1. Check the idle control valve with the engine cool.
2. Check to be sure that the rotating piston in the valve moves freely inside its bore.
3. Check resistance between terminals:
1 and 3 approximately 40 Ohms
2 and 1 approximately 20 Ohms
2 and 3 approximately 20 Ohms
4. Connect plug back on to idle valve.
5. Open or close rotating piston completely (with ignition OFF).
6. With ignition ON, piston should go to its 50% position, and stay there.
7. If idle control valve does not test within specifications, replace it.
