Montvale, NJ February 1988 Technical Dept.
SUBJECT: Fuses
MODELS: All
Situation: Faulty fuses may cause intermittent component operation. The voltage supplied to the suspect component may be less than what is required for proper operation.
Cause: Improper crimping inside the fuse.
Diagnostic
Procedure: Check for a voltage drop between both legs of the fuse.
Note: Checking the fuse for continuity with an ohmmeter may not detect a fuse with this fault! Only use the method described below.
^ Operate component that has the intermittent operation.
^ Measure the voltage on both sides of the fuse while the component is in operation.
^ Compare the voltage readings.
