SUBJECT:
Coding Plug/On-Board Computer II
MODELS:
All so equipped
The coding plug stores important information such as the engine type, fuel injection type, tire size (circumference), fuel tank capacity and fuel tank reserve capacity.
To see if the proper coding plug has been installed without removing the module, turn on the ignition and press the buttons at the same time.
A display similar to this will appear.
Compare the display to the chart on the reverse side of this S.I.
If the customer complains about an inaccurate range display reading, check the reserve capacity calibration as follows:
^ The low fuel level warning light on the fuel gauge must be illuminated (drain fuel from tank or pull level sensor from tank).
^ Press the 1000 and 1 buttons at the same time.
^ Compare the reading in the display to amount listed under reserve capacity for the appropriate model on the chart.
^ If the display is incorrect, remove the plastic plug located next to the 1000 button and adjust the reading by turning the potentiometer with a small screwdriver.
*NOTE:
This procedure must always be performed after replacing an OBC II. module.
