Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Prior to disconnecting fuel lines, disconnect master relay and carefully depressurize fuel system.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connectors from air flow sensor, release harness from clips and pull out drain hose, loosen clamp securing duct to throttle body, then remove air flow sensor/air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove fan cowl attaching bolts, then the fan cowl.
4. Drain engine oil into a suitable container.
5. Loosen alternator attaching bolts, then remove alternator drive belt and position alternator aside.
6. Loosen power steering pump attaching bolts, then remove drive belt.
7. On models with a/c, loosen compressor attaching bolts, then position compressor aside.
8. Remove reinforcement plate, then remove oil pan attaching bolts around crossmember.
9. Remove engine mount attaching bolts, then disconnect electrical leads required to facilitate removal of pan.
10. Attach a suitable engine lifting device to engine, then lift engine as necessary to facilitate removal of pan.
11. Position console aside and suspend, using a suitable wire, then remove remaining oil pan retaining bolts.
12. Rotate crankshaft until connecting rods in cylinders 5 and 6 are at their highest point, then remove oil pan.
13. Reverse procedure to install. Torque attaching bolts to 20 ft.lbs.
