SUBJECT: Thigh Support on Electrically Adjustable Sports Seats

MODELS: 535iS, M-5

Situation: Thigh support on electrically adjustable sports seats comes loose.

Cause: The retaining clip used on the linkage pin for the thigh support on cars produced from 7/86 to 1/87 could come loose, causing the linkage to come apart if extended to the forward limit.

Correction: An improved style clip is used on cars produced since 1/87.

Remedy: If the linkage comes loose, replace the retaining clip with new style clip, part number 51 23 1 943 279.

If the linkage pin has been lost, its part number is 52 10 1 923 905.

Warranty
Status: Replaceable under the terms of the BMW 3 Years/36,000 Miles New Car Warranty.
