Affected Vehicles

Condition
The instrument panel vent does not open or close. Inspection of the removed vent assembly may show a loose or damaged lever or operating gears that do not mesh.

Technical Background
In some cases the instrument panel vent is damaged during the production process.

Production Solution





The assembly process was improved and an additional test to the vent assembly was implemented in production. A white mark has been applied to the gears of the improved vents (Figure 1).

Service
Replace the instrument panel vent.
