Condition





The air distribution fins in either of the outer instrument panel vents do not adjust. The fins may be broken or loose and cause a rattling sound (Figure 1).





The fins may also be missing (Figure 2).

Technical Background

This condition arises due to a tolerance issue with the components in the mechanism during production.

Production Solution

An improved outer instrument panel vent has been implemented.

Service

Replace the instrument panel vent.
