Vehicle Information
Condition
The customer complains of the following warning message in the Driver Information Center: "Lane change assistant not available", and the button on the mirror does not stay lit. Audi Side Assist is inoperative. Along with the customer complaint, any one or all of the following DTCs must be present in the system:
^ DTC 02849 (Lane Change Assistance Control Module -J769- 004 No signal/communication - 001 Sporadic) stored in data bus on board diagnostic interface (gateway control module), J533 (19)
^ DTC 02001 (Data Bus Distance control - 004 No signal/communication - 001 Sporadic) stored in data bus on board diagnostic interface (gateway control module), J533 (19)
^ DTC 02071 (Local data bus 014 Faulty - 001 Sporadic) stored in lane change assistance control module, J769 (3C)
Technical Background
Incorrect component installed at the factory.
Production Solution
The correct parts are installed in series production.
Service
1. Check the fault memory entries of the data bus on board diagnostic interface (gateway control module), J533 (19) and the lane change assistance control module, J769 (3C).
2. If DTC 02849 (Lane Change Assistance Control Module -J769- 004 No signal/communication) or DTC 02001 (Data Bus Distance control - 004 No signal/communication) is logged in the data bus on board diagnostic interface (gateway control module), J533 (19), then replace only the master control unit of the lane change assistance control module, J769 (3C).
3. If the entry DTC 02071 (Local data bus 014 Faulty) is logged in the lane change assistance control module, J769 (3C), then replace only the slave control unit of the lane change assistance control module, J770 (63B).
4. If the DTCs 02849 and 02071 are present together or if DTCs 02001 and 02071 DTCs are present together, then replace both the master (J769) and slave (J770) control units of the lane change assistance control system.
5. Perform the Guided Fault Finding (GFF) replacement test plan and calibration for the lane change assistance control system.
