Vehicle Information
Condition
Revision History
Customer may report MIL on and loss of performance.
Technical Background
Under extreme driving conditions (e.g. long idle periods or extended stop and go traffic), high temperatures can build up in the rail system and may lead to fluctuations in fuel pressure, possibly causing DTC P008700 (fuel rail pressure too low) to be stored. Coolant temperature above 102°C in the freeze frame data can be an indicator of those extreme driving conditions.
Production Solution
Software to optimize the cooling strategy to solve this issue is currently in development.
Service
1. Diagnose the vehicle according to the instructions listed below. If customer's vehicle condition matches the condition listed in the Technical Background of this P55 TSB, continue with the points below.
2. Create a P55 record in the P55 application via the hyperlink in Accessaudi.com (Figure 1) or Technical Assistance page in Elsa (Figure 2).
3. Open a TACS ticket and call TACs for further instructions.
Condition verification procedure
Reproduce the condition:
1. Ensure that the air conditioning is switched off.
2. Allow the engine to warm up until the radiator fans start running.
3. Shut down the vehicle immediately to create heat build-up.
4. Allow the vehicle to sit for five minutes, then start a test drive.
5. Check if DTC P008700 is stored.
After verifying the condition, erase DTCs.
