3.2L Manual Transmission

Starter

Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Contact Corrosion.

Removing






- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Remove resonance tube - 2 - from air guide hose.

- Remove air guide hose - 1 - from Throttle Valve Control Module (J338).

- Disconnect Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) electrical connector - 3 -.

- Remove upper part of air filter housing - arrow - and remove air filter insert.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove air duct.






- Remove lower part of air filter housing - arrows -.






- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 - by sliding the retainer back and pressing the release down.






- Disconnect the cable tie.

- Fold back the boot - 3 - and disconnect the B+ wire - 5 - from the solenoid switch.

- Remove ground wire - 2 -.

- Remove upper starter bolt - 1 -.

- Remove nut - 3 - on lower starter bolt and remove wiring harness bracket - 2 -.






- Remove lower starter bolt - 1 - (accessible from above) and remove starter.

Installing

• Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Starter Overview ] Service and Repair.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Install bracket for upper and lower parts of air filter.

- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
