3.2L DSG
Starter
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Contact Corrosion.
Removing
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Remove resonance tube - 2 - from air guide hose.
- Remove air guide hose - 1 - from Throttle Valve Control Module (J338).
- Disconnect Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) electrical connector - 3 -.
- Remove upper part of air filter housing - arrow - and remove air filter insert.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove air duct.
- Remove lower part of air filter housing - arrows -.
- Cut cable tie - arrow - for protective boot - 1 -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.
- Fold protective boot back and remove B+ wire from starter solenoid switch.
- Remove ground wire - 3 -.
Risk of destroying control module (mechatronic) with static discharge.
• Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
- To discharge static, touch vehicle ground with hand (while not wearing gloves).
- Disconnect electrical connector - 4 - on transmission by turning twist lock counterclockwise.
- Remove lower starter bolt (accessible from above).
- Remove upper starter bolt and remove starter.
Installing
• Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Starter Overview ] Service and Repair.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install bracket for upper and lower parts of air filter.
- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
