Affected Vehicles
Condition
After the initial engine break in period is completed (600 miles/1000 Kilometers), it is possible a snaring/rattling sound could be heard from the engine after cold start at 2000 to 2500 engine revolutions per minute with the gear box in neutral.
Technical Background
During the initial 600 miles (1000 Kilometer), the engines lubrication system in the TTRS is controlled by the engine control module to run at maximum oil pressure. After this initial break in period the engine oil pressure is regulated by the engine control module to increase as needed including the cold start phase. This after cold engine start could create unfavorable mechanical engine noises between 2000 and 2500 engine revolutions per minute (snaring/rattling).
Production Solution
Improved engine control module software for model year 2013 addressed the condition.
