Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor 2 (G754)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
The 7-speed S-Tronic transmission 0B5 has an additional transmission fluid temperature sensor 2 to monitor the transmission fluid temperature of the wheel set on certain engine versions.
• Installed location: In place of the Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) drain plug.
Procedure
Transmission Installed
- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -.
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
Without any or with too little manual transmission fluid inside the transmission:
• Do not start the engine and
• Do not tow the vehicle
Transmission Removed
• The transmission is secured to the engine/transmission holder. Refer to => [ Securing on Engine and Transmission Holder ] Securing On Engine and Transmission Holder.-
Transmission, Removed or Installed
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from transmission fluid temperature sensor 2.
• Protect the connector - 2 - and the contacts on transmission fluid temperature sensor 2 from transmission fluid. Clean the connectors immediately if they come in contact with transmission fluid (MTF). Transmission fluid can cause contact problems in the connector contacts.
- Remove transmission fluid temperature sensor 2 - 1 -.
- Drain the transmission fluid (MTF).
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Tightening specification: Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2 to transmission, 45 Nm
- Attach the wiring harness to the transmission - arrows -.
- Fill with MTF.
- Clean the transmission and tunnel crossmember.
