Rear Final Drive, Additional Work after Replacing
Rear final drive malfunctions!
The following work must be performed if the rear final drive was replaced.
• Bleeding the hydraulic control unit see vehicle diagnostic tester
• Adapting the rear final drive to the All Wheel Drive (AWD) control module (J492) see vehicle diagnostic tester.
• These additional steps may only be performed if the rear final drive was replaced.
Procedure
- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and turn on the ignition.
- Select 22 - Replace Rear Final Drive in the (VAS 5051) under Guided Functions in directory 22 - AWD Electronics
• Follow all the instructions in the vehicle diagnostic tester exactly.
Using the vehicle diagnostic tester, "adapt" the new rear final drive to the AWD control module.
• A system check takes places after 22 - Replace Rear Final Drive finishes. Use "Guided Fault Finding" to correct any malfunctions that may have been detected.
