Tunnel Crossmember
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine-/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Gearbox Support (T10337)
Removing
- Remove the rear noise insulation - 2 -.
- Mount the (T10337) on the (V.A.G 1383 A) and attach it to the bottom of the transmission.
- Raise the transmission slightly.
• If the tunnel crossmember was removed in or to check or add transmission fluid, then it is necessary to bring the transmission back into its installed position after removing the tunnel crossmember. This is the only way the transmission fluid level can be adjusted correctly. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling ] Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling.
There is the risk of an accident.
• The (V.A.G 1383 A) may only be used during assembly and must not sit unsupervised under the vehicle.
- Remove the bolts from the tunnel crossmember - arrows -.
- Remove the nuts - arrow - and the tunnel crossmember.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember, Transmission Mount and Transmission Support Overview ] Tunnel Crossmember, Transmission Mount and Transmission Support Overview.
- Install the noise insulation.
