Selector Lever Handle with Front Locking Button, from MY 2012 and RS5

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

The cable ties or the assembly aid for the button on the handle. The assembly aid is already installed at the factory when a new handle is ordered.

Removing






- Press the button on the electro-mechanical parking brake to activate it.

- Move the selector lever into "N".

Both the selector lever handle and the selector lever boot are removed.

- Carefully pry out the selector lever boot on the side using the (3409) - arrows -.

- Fold the selector lever boot - 1 - upward and over the selector lever handle - 3 -.






- Turn the locking ring all the way in the direction of the - arrow -. The markings - a and b - no longer line up.

- Remove the selector lever handle - 3 - together with the selector lever boot - 1 - without touching the locking button - 2 -.

Installing






- Turn the locking ring all the way in the direction of the - arrow -.

The markings - a and b - are not above one another.

The locking button points in the drive direction.

The selector mechanism could get damaged.

The locking button - 2 - must be projecting out when installing. If the button should get pushed in unintentionally while the handle is removed, then it must be brought back into its installation position. If the locking button is pushed in while the handle is being installed, destroy the handle and the selector mechanism pull rod - 1 -.

- Press the selector lever handle - 3 - onto the lever completely without touching the locking button - 2 -.

When doing this, handle must engage into ring groove of the selector lever.

- Turn the locking ring all the way in the direction of the - arrow -.






It must be possible to turn the locking ring; press the handle - 2 - on again if necessary.

The markings - a and b - are above one another.

If the locking ring was turned, then the handle is not properly locked. Only then may the locking button be pressed on the handle.

The locking button may have an increased resistance to pressure when it is pushed the first time after installing the handle.

- Press the locking button - 1 - in the selector lever handle.

- Move the selector lever button mechanism through "R" and "S" to perform the function test.

If the selector lever positions cannot be reached, remove the handle again. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle with Front Locking Button, from MY 2012 and RS5 ].

- Pull the selector lever boot downward and attach it to the multimedia system control head (E380).
