Fluid Line/Hose: Service and Repair
ATF Pipes
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)
Removing
• => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• The ATF pipes can only removed and installed when the transmission is removed.
• Transmission removed, refer to => [ Transmission, Removing ] Transmission, Removing.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the separating point.
- Remove the union nuts - arrows -.
- Seal any open lines and connections with a clean plug taken from the (VAS 6122).
- Remove the ATF pipe.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Tightening specifications:
• => [ ATF Cooler, ATF Pipes, ATF Pipe Filter Overview ] ATF Cooler, ATF Pipes, ATF Pipe Filter Overview
• => [ ATF Cooler, ATF Pipes and ATF Filter Overview ] Service and Repair
• Replace the O-rings.
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
• When disassembling, remove all the plugs, which were taken from the (VAS 6122) from the ATF pipes and from the transmission.
• The ATF cooling function will not work and the transmission will be damaged if the plugs are forgotten.
- First insert the ATF pipes into the transmission and radiator by hand as far as the stop and then bolt them on.
- Check the ATF level after installing the transmission. Refer to => [ ATF, Checking Level and Correcting ] ATF, Checking Level and Correcting.
