Generator
Removing
- With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery ground (GND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Remove the ribbed belt from the generator ribbed belt pulley and release the tension on the tensioning.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and nut - 3 -.
- Remove the right lock carrier brace - 2 -.
Vehicles with transmission fluid cooler
- Remove the bolt - arrow - for the automatic transmission lines.
- Loosen the nut - 1 - on the electrical wiring bracket several turns.
• Disregard item - 2 -.
- Drain the coolant.
- Remove the coolant hose - 2 - from the radiator by raising the retaining clamps.
• Disregard item - 1 -.
- Move the coolant hose up and to the side.
All Vehicles
- Disconnect the electrical connector on the oil level thermal sensor (G266) and free up the wiring harness on the generator.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove generator.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 -.
- Remove terminal 30/B+ - item 2 -.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Generator Overview ] Generator Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Vehicles with transmission fluid cooler
- Secure the ATF lines.
- Fill with coolant.
All Vehicles
- Install the lock carrier right brace.
- Install the ribbed belt.
- Connect battery. Required actions, refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Start the engine and check the ribbed belt to make sure it is working correctly.
