Instrument Panel Control Module: Service and Repair






Instrument Cluster with Control Module (J285)

Do not disassemble the instrument cluster.

It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel in order to remove the instrument cluster.

- If the instrument cluster with the instrument cluster control module (J285) was replaced, select the "Replace" function for the corresponding control module in the "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" operating mode using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.

Removing

- Tilt the steering wheel downward and to the rear as far as possible, use the entire adjustment range of the steering column adjustment for this.

- Switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.

- Remove the gap cover.

- Place the gap cover on the upper steering column trim.

- Remove the left instrument panel vent.

- Remove the MMI screen cover.

- Remove the screws - arrows -.






- Pull the cluster - 1 - out until it lies on steering wheel.

- Disconnect the electrical connector.

- To disconnect the electrical connector, press the catch - 1 -, turn the retaining bracket in the - direction of the arrow - and remove the connector.






- Remove the cluster to the driver's side between the steering wheel and instrument panel.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Instrument Cluster Radio Frequency Controlled Clock Receiver Overview ] Instrument Cluster Radio Frequency Controlled Clock Receiver Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Follow the instructions on the vehicle diagnosis tester display with a new instrument cluster.
