Parking Brake Control Module: Service and Repair
Electromechanical Parking Brake Control Module (J540)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
Removing
- Fold up the right rear side trim in the luggage compartment.
A trailer mode control module may be installed depending on the model. The trailer mode control module and the bracket for the module must be removed before removing the electronic parking brake control module.
- Remove the nuts.
- Slide the electrical connector lock - 2 - forward.
- Remove the electronic parking brake control module - 1 - with the plug connector.
- Remove the electrical connector from the control module.
- Remove the control module from the vehicle.
Installing
- Connect the electrical connector - 2 - on the control module.
- Slide the retainer on the connector back and lock it.
- Insert the control module.
- Install the nuts and tighten to 9 Nm.
Install the trailer mode control module and bracket, if applicable. Bracket, 3 Nm.
- If the electronic parking brake control module is replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding".
• Use the vehicle diagnostic tester.
