94 Rear fog light button does not function

November 22, 2011.

Affected Vehicles

Condition
The rear fog lights do not turn on when the button is pressed in the headlight switch. All the other functions of the headlight switch operate correctly.

Technical Background

The rear fog light feature is not available in the North American market for the A5 and A5 Cabriolet models. A select few A5 Cabriolet vehicles were built with the incorrect headlight switch which contains the button for the rear fog light activation (located below the front fog light button, see Figure 1). When this button is pressed nothing occurs since the rear fog light system is not installed by design.

Production Solution

Correct parts are being installed by the factory.

Service

Replace the incorrect headlight switch (with rear fog light button) with the correct headlight switch (without rear fog light button). Use the repair instructions listed in the ElsaWeb Repair Manual.
