Cover and Upholstery, Seat Pan without Seat Depth Adjustor

The work description is based on a manual or power standard front seat and comfort seat.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Special Hook (3370)

Fixture for Seat Repair (VAS 6136)

Removing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat:

Manual standard seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.

Power standard seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.

- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing the Front Seat on VAS 6136 ] Installing the Front Seat On VAS 6136.

- Remove backrest:

Manual standard seat, refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.

Power standard seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

- Remove the sill side trim retaining bracket.

Manual standard seat, refer to => [ Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim ] Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim.

Power standard seat and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim ] Sill Side Retaining Bracket Trim.

- Versions with child seat anchor (front passenger seat only): remove the child seat anchor. Refer to => [ LATCH Child Seat Anchor ] LATCH Child Seat Anchor.

- Equipment level with storage compartment: remove the storage compartment. Refer to => [ Storage Compartment ] Storage Compartment.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors and free them up.

- Disengage the clamping profiles - 3 - on the cover using the (3370) in the front - A - and on the side - B -.






- When disengaging the cover, be careful of the exposed retaining hooks - 1 - on the edge - 2 -.

- Disengage both hooks - 1 - on the seat pan - 3 -.






Child seat anchor - 2 - removed.

- Disengage the clamping profile - 6 - on the cover using the (3370) near - A -.

- When disengaging the cover, be careful of the exposed retaining hooks - 4 - on the edge - 5 -.

- Remove the cover and cushion from the seat pan while at the same time removing the seat heating wiring harness.

Installing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to=> [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery Ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory must be checked, deleted and checked again. Refer to Vehicle diagnostic tester.
