Hydraulic System, Filling and Bleeding

• The electro-hydraulic convertible top operation involves a closed hydraulic system. Generally, filling is necessary after a loss of oil (accident, leaks, etc.).

• Before opening the hydraulic system, open the filler plug on the fluid reservoir to even out the pressure in the system and then close it again to the tightening specification.

• The hydraulic system must be filled when the convertible top is closed due to the lift and displacement effects in the hydraulic cylinders.

Risk of damage.

• Do not fill the hydraulic fluid reservoir above the "MAX" marking as the pressure in the system can become so great that damage can result.

Filling

The hydraulic system is under pressure, which can cause serious personal injury.

• The hydraulic pressure within the system must be released before starting any work on the convertible top system. Refer to => [ Hydraulic System ] Hydraulic System.

- Turn off the ignition and press the convertible top operation switch (E137) - 1 - for approximately 5 seconds.






• The pressure in the hydraulic system will come down.

- Remove the left luggage compartment side trim..






- Disconnect the connectors - 2, 3, 5 - from the bracket.

- Remove the nut - 1 - and bolt - 6 - and then remove the bracket - 4 -.

- Remove the hydraulic pump and the adhesive strips - 3, 4 -.






- Remove the upper section of the noise insulation - 2 -.

• Ignore - 1 -.

- Remove the plug - arrow -.






- Fill with hydraulic fluid up to the middle line. For the correct hydraulic fluid, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Bleeding

• Hydraulic system is self-bleeding. The system is bled after opening and closing the convertible top several times.

- Start the engine.

- Open and close the convertible top five times using the electro-hydraulic actuator.

• The convertible top must move smoothly and without jerking.

- Check fluid level in reservoir - 2 - with the roof closed.

• Oil level must be between "MIN" and "MAX" markings.

• It is necessary to bleed the convertible top hydraulics each time the hydraulic fluid is filled.
