Clean Working Conditions

Clean Working Conditions

Paint damage.

Hydraulic fluid will damage the paint. Wipe up any hydraulic fluid that leaks onto painted surfaces.

Even very small particles of dirt can cause a fault. Follow the rules of cleanliness when working on the hydraulic system:

Clean connecting points and surrounding areas before loosening.

Before opening the hydraulic system, open the filler plug on the fluid reservoir to even out the pressure in the system and then close it again to the tightening specification.

Always check the fluid level and add more fluid if necessary whenever work was performed on the hydraulic system.

Seal off all open lines and connections immediately with clean plugs taken, for example, from the engine bung set (VAS 6122).

Place removed parts on a clean surface and cover. Use foil and paper. Do not use cloths with lint!

Carefully cover or seal opened components if the repair will not be done immediately.

Only install clean parts: remove replacement parts from the packaging immediately prior to installation.

Place collecting container or foil and cloths under connections to be opened so that hydraulic fluid does not come into contact with painted surfaces.

If the system open: do not work with compressed air. Do not move the vehicle if at all possible.

Protect any disconnected connectors from dirt and moisture and connect them only when they are completely dry.
