Side Trim

Side Trim

• Removal and installation are same for right and left.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing






- Open the convertible top compartment cover.

- Remove the sill panel strip. Refer to => [ Sill Panel ] Sill Panel.

- Remove the side trim panel insert. Refer to => [ Side Trim Panel Insert ] Side Trim Panel Insert.

- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] Bench Seat.

- Remove the side cushion. Refer to => [ Side Upholstery ] Side Upholstery.

- Remove the seat belt positioning arm. Refer to => [ Driver and Front Passenger Seat Belt Positioning Motors ] Driver and Front Passenger Seat Belt Positioning Motors.

- Push the linkage flap - 3 - forward and remove the screw - 4 -.

- Remove the bolts - 2 - and - 5 -.

- Remove the expanding clip - 1 -.

- Starting on the side and bottom unclip the side trim panel - 1 - - arrows A -.






- Move the side trim panel toward the center of the vehicle and disengage it from the side panel- arrow B -.

- Vehicles with treble speaker: Disconnect the connector

- Remove the rear seat belt webbing from the belt guide.

- Guide the front seat belt webbing with the seat belt tongue through the seat belt extraction panel and remove the side trim panel.

Installing






Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

• If any clamps and clips remain in the body, remove them and insert them in the trim.

• Check clamps and securing clips for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

- Adjust the adjusting sleeve - 1 - in the rollover protection support panel to dimension - a -.

• Dimension - a - = 2.4 mm.

- Insert the centering pins - 2 - on the back of the side trim panel into the holes in the body.

- Stretch the door seal lip over the side trim.
