Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair






Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister

Checking for leaks, refer to => [ Leak Detection Test, Performing ] Diagnosis and Testing.

Removing

Follow all safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] General Information.

Follow the guidelines for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

- On a vehicle with air suspension, activate vehicle lift mode.

- Remove the right rear wheel.

- Remove the right rear wheel housing liner.

- Separate the electrical connector - 1 - with ignition switched off.






- Disconnect the vent lines - 3 and 4 -.

- Remove the vacuum line - 2 - from fuel system diagnostic pump.

- Remove bolts - 5, 6, 7 - and remove EVAP canister.

- Unclip Ground (GND) line from EVAP canister - arrow -.

Installing

Tightening specification, refer to => [ EVAP System Overview ] Removal and Replacement.

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

- Clip GND line onto EVAP canister - arrow -.






- Install the EVAP canister and tighten the bolts in the following sequence: - 6, 5 and 7 -.

- Install vacuum line - 2 - on fuel system diagnostic pump.

- Install the vent lines - 3 and 4 -.

- Install right rear wheel housing liner.

- On a vehicle with air suspension, deactivate vehicle lift mode.
