Affected Vehicles
Condition
^ The customer complains the rearview backup camera image does not show on the MMI screen.
^ The control unit for the rearview backup camera is not installed from the factory.
^ This affects all vehicles with PR No. SK6 "Preparation for rear view camera for retrofitting".
Technical Background
The "preparation" for the rearview backup camera system, which includes the camera, wiring, and mounting bracket for control unit, is installed on the vehicle without the camera control unit, due to a worldwide shortage of parts from the supplier.
Some 2011 MY - 2012MY A4, A5, Q5, Q7, and A8 vehicles with the Audi parking system plus with rearview camera are affected. In addition to this, only some 2012MY A6 & A7 vehicles with the Audi parking system plus with rearview camera are also affected. These vehicles have the special PR No. SK6.
The Audi parking system plus works correctly but with no rearview image shown in the MMI screen for the backup camera (see Figure 1). All audio feedback can be heard and the "Graphical view" showing the static vehicle image can be seen when the system is active.

Service
Control units for retrofitting into the vehicle are not available at this time. Please inform the customer that Audi of America will inform the dealers as soon as parts are available for ordering.
Additional service work may be required for proper retrofitting of the control unit (SVM), thus do not attempt any retrofits until the official communication is sent out to the dealer network.
