Heater Core, Heating & A/C Unit Removed







Heater Core, Heating & A/C Unit Removed

Heater core can also be removed and re-installed with the heating & A/C unit installed, refer to => [ Heater Core, Heating & A/C Unit Installed ] Heater Core, Heating & A/C Unit Installed.

Removing

- Remove front heating & A/C unit, refer to => [ Front HVAC Unit ] Front HVAC Unit.

- Remove bolts - A - and - B -.






- Disengage cover - D - from mounts - C - and from wiring harness secured to upper side.

- Remove bolt - A -.






- Disengage cover - B - from mounts - C - and from wiring harness secured to upper side.

- Pull off retaining clips - A - from coolant lines - B - and - C -.






- Pull coolant lines - B - and - C - out of heater core.

- Remove bolts - D -.






- Turn retaining pin - A - out of locking mechanism - B -

- Pull retaining pin - A - out of lower air duct - C - and heating & A/C unit - arrow -.

- Release catches - E - of lower air guide - C -

- Fold lower air duct - C - in direction of - arrow - - F - and remove lower air duct - C - and heater core.

Installing

- Clean front heating & A/C unit - D - and lower air duct - B - (for example, of residual coolant).






- Check foam seals - C - at heater core - A -, they must be glued all around without gaps and must not be damaged.

- Insert heater core - A - on proper side into lower air duct - B -.

- Install heater core - A - with lower air duct - B - into heating & A/C unit - D -.

While inserting, make sure that groove/spring connection between heating & A/C unit - D - and lower air guide - B - is joined correctly.

- Insert retaining pin - A - for connecting lower air duct - C - to heating & A/C unit.






- Turn retaining pin - A - into locking mechanism - B -

- Install bolts - D -.

- Moisten new O-ring seals - D - (included in heater core delivery casing, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog) lightly with coolant.






- Insert new seals - D - on to coolant pipe connections - F -.

- Push both coolant pipes - B - and - C - into heater core connections - E -.

- Insert retaining clips - A - on proper side on to coolant lines - B - and - C - and heater core connections.

Only use retaining clips of standard used in series production, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog.

- Check retaining clips - A - on coolant pipes and heater core connections again for secure fit.

- Re-install both left and right covers on heater core and the remaining removed components in reverse order.

- Install front heating & A/C unit, refer to => [ Front HVAC Unit ] Front HVAC Unit.
