Flange Shaft and Driveshaft Seal on Rear Final Drive, Driveshaft Removed

Identifying and allocating the rear final drive, refer to => [ Rear Final Drive 0BN, 0BP Identification ] Rear Final Drive 0BN, 0BP Identification.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Puller (T10055)

Assembly Tool (T10432) for Rear Final Drive 0BN

Thrust Piece (T10432/1) for Rear Final Drive 0BN

Assembly Tool (T10431) for Rear Final Drive 0BP

Thrust Piece (T10431/1) for Rear Final Drive 0BP

4 mm diameter screws (2)

Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)

Removing

- Remove rear final drive. Refer to => [ Rear Final Drive ] Rear Final Drive.

- Set the rear drive axle on a workbench.

- Pull the O-ring - 1 - and locking ring - 2 - off.






- Punch two holes into the cover using a drift and then install the screws - arrows -.






- Screw in 4 mm diameter screws.

- Use the (T10055) to pull the dust cap off.

- Use a drift to tap two holes in the shaft seal - arrows -.






- Install the 4 mm screws.

Do not damage the sealing surface on the output shaft.

Do not screw the screw in too tight or you will damage the bearing that is behind it.

- Use the puller (T10055) to pull the shaft seal off by moving it from side to side.

Installing Rear Final Drive 0BN

- Use an adhesive strip to remove the stub shaft splines.

- Coat the outer circumference of the shaft seal with gear oil.

- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Slide the new shaft seal all the way up to the seal on the final drive.






- Do not tilt the shaft seal while using the (T10431) to push the shaft seal on all the way through to the stop.

- Remove the adhesive tape.

- Use a (T10432/2) to push the new dust cap on.






Installing Rear Final Drive 0BP

- Use an adhesive strip to remove the stub shaft splines.

- Coat the outer circumference of the shaft seal with gear oil.

- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Slide the new shaft seal all the way up to the seal on the final drive.






- Do not tilt the shaft seal while using the (T10432) to push the shaft seal on all the way through to the stop.

- Remove the adhesive tape.

- Use a (T10431/2) to push the new dust cap on.






Continuation for All:

- Install the new O-ring and locking ring. Allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.






- Install rear final drive. Refer to => [ Rear Final Drive ] Rear Final Drive.

- Check the ATF level in rear final drive. Refer to => [ Axle Oil Level, Checking ] Axle Oil Level, Checking.
