Sun Shade






Sun Shade

Front Sun Shade, Removing

Sun shade is pre-tensioned by a spring and must be secured against unwinding before removing

If tension on sun shade or spring is released, they can be re-tensioned.

When tensioning, note different rotations for tensioning front and rear sun shade.

Shade, Securing





- Open the shade completely.

- Panel 3 and 2 removed.

- Remove the rear interior lamp / reading lamp.

- Before shade is removed from bracket - 1 -, secure it against rolling up with a securing pin - arrow -.

- In order to secure shade, it must be rolled up into the correct position, if necessary.

- Remove the nuts - arrow - on both sides of the sun shade bracket.






- Push the sun shade bracket upward over the threaded pin and hold it there.

The left and right sliders on the front bow must first be pushed through the opening for the rear interior lamp / reading lamp into their removal position so that they can be disengaged.

- Using a hex socket wrench, turn the emergency release - arrow - (4 mm) on the sun shade motor - 1 - => [ (Item 5) Sun Shade Motor ] Service and Repair in the open position.






- Then lift the sun shade bracket over the threaded pins.

- Remove the sun shade arch with the left and right sliders - 1 - from the guide on the sunroof frame.

- Remove shade -screws - 2 - from shade bracket.






- Remove shade and unhook slide - 2 - from Teflon strip - 1 -.






- Remove glider - 3 - from shade arch - 5 -.






- Slide shade arch - 5 - sideways from molding - 4 - on sun shade - 1 -.

If tension is released from sun shade spring, it can be re-tensioned as follows.

Front Sun Shade Spring, Re-Tensioning

- Remove left and right nuts on shade bracket.

- Raise shade bracket upward slightly.

- Shade arch removed and removed from molding.

- Now rotate shade 23 to 25 turns in tensioning direction.

- Secure shade against unwinding.

- Slide shade arch onto molding and install side slides.

- Install shade arch in guide on sunroof frame.

- Install shade bracket and secure it with nuts.

Sun Protection, Installing

- Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following.

- Slide sun shade mount into shade arch.

- Hook slide into Teflon strip and slide it into shade arch.

- Secure shade with shade bracket.

- Insert shade arch with slide and Teflon strip in removal or installation position in guide on sunroof frame.

- Remove securing pins on both shades.

- Using a hex socket head wrench, rotate shade motor to close position.

- Teflon band must be threaded by hand into guide rails until it is guided in far enough and taken up.

- Secure shade bracket with crossmember and tighten nut - arrow - to 4.5 Nm.






- Using electrical operation, close sun shade.

- Perform sun shade adaptation.

- Install panel 2 and 3.

- Perform a glass panel adaptation 3.

Rear Sun Shade, Removing

- Remove panel 3 and 2.

- Remove nut from sun shade bracket - 1 -.






There are different versions of shade arch stops.

Threaded stops were installed through approximately calendar week 15/2006.

From calendar week 16/2006, inserted stops are installed.

Threaded Stops

- Pull seal - 1 - far enough back until bolt - 2 - is accessible.






- Remove screw - 1 -.






- Slide shade arch - 1 - with slides back far enough so that stop - 2 - can be slid out.






- Remove stop - 1 - from guide.






Installed Stops

- Stop - 1 - is inserted in guide rails.






- Remove the stop - 1 - from the guide rail.






- Raise sun shade bracket and slide shade arch - 1 - with slide out of guide.






- Secure both shades against unwinding and place securing pins in both shades.

- Loosen shade bracket from crossmember.

- Remove shade screws from shade bracket.






- Remove shade from shade bracket.

If tension is released from sun shade spring, it can be re-tensioned as follows.

Rear Sun Shade Spring, Re-Tensioning

- Remove left and right nuts on shade bracket.

- Raise shade bracket upward slightly.

- Shade arch removed and removed from molding.

- Now rotate the shade 27 turns + / - 2 turns in tensioning direction.

- Secure shade against unwinding.

- Slide shade arch onto molding and install side slides.

- Install shade arch in guide on sunroof frame.

- Install shade bracket and secure it with nuts.

Installation

- Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following.

- Secure shade bracket in crossmember, tightening nut to 4.5 Nm.

- Slide shade molding into arch and install slider.

- Remove securing pins.

- Slide slider with arch into guide tracks.

- If necessary, position arch diagonally in guide tracks for this.

- Press damper - 1 - into guide rail.






- Re-install panel 2 and 3.

- Perform a glass panel 3 adaptation.
