Front Air Suspension Strut, Emptying
Front suspension strut (air suspension), removing, refer to => [ Air Suspension Strut ] Air Suspension Strut.
- Slowly open the residual pressure retaining valve - 2 - on front suspension strut (air suspension) and allow air pressure to escape.
The illustration shows a conventional shock absorber. The procedure for suspension struts (air suspension) is the same.
A - Open by Drilling
- Clamp suspension strut (air suspension) vertically in a vise with the piston rods facing down.
Wear protective goggles while drilling.
- Drill a 3 mm hole - arrow A - through the outer tube of shock absorber.
- Continue drilling until tube inside is drilled through (approximately 25 mm deep).
- Drill a 6 mm hole - arrow B -, through outer and inner strut tubes.
- Hold shock absorber over appropriate container for catching oil and move piston rod repeatedly through the entire stroke until no more oil flows out.
