Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77)

Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77)

General Information

Vehicles with level control and/or gas discharge lamps have standard automatic headlamp range control.

To function properly, the level control and automatic headlamp range control system need information about compression travel or rebound travel at the front and rear axles.

The location of the upper left/right control arm relative to the body is transferred via a connecting link to the left rear level control system sensor and right rear level control system sensor. This transmit electrical signals to the left/right high-intensity gas discharge lamp control module (J343/344).

At the rear axle, these signals from left front level control system sensor (G78) and right front level control sensor (G289) are transmitted to the left/right high-intensity gas discharge lamp control module.

These signals are required for determining vehicle level.

The headlamp range control responds automatically to changes in the vehicle level.

The vehicle level can change in the following situations:

Trailer Mode

Different load conditions; vehicle empty, vehicle partially or fully loaded

Headlamp and level control setting!

Adapting control position and checking headlamp basic setting is necessary if

The front upper control arm was removed and installed or replaced,

Installation work has been performed on the level control system sensor,

The level control system sensor has been replaced,

The connecting link connection from the level control system sensor to front upper control arm was disconnected.

Adapt the control position, Refer to => [ Control Position, Programming ] Programming and Relearning.

Removing

- With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- Disconnect the harness connector - 3 -.

- Remove nut - 2 -.

- Remove bolts - 1 - with offset wrench. Do not bend upper retaining plate when doing so.

- Remove level control system sensor.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Sensor lever must point outward.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Lower Control Arm, Level Control System Sensor, Upper Front and Upper Rear Control Arms and Tie Rod Overview ] Rear Axle Overview

- With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- On vehicles with air suspension, readapt control position. Refer to => [ Control Position, Programming ] Programming and Relearning.

- Perform headlamp basic setting.
