Charging System Control Module: Service and Repair
Energy Management Control Module (J644), Through MY 08
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pry Lever (80 - 200)
Removing
• While removing and installing, no charger must be connected.
- If the control module was replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing & Information System (VAS5051B).
- Remove driver's seat.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Remove screw - 2 - and pull floor vent - 1 - up.
- Release retaining clamps on back side of cover - 1 - in - direction of arrow A -.
- Then remove cover in - direction of arrow B - from driver's seat console.
- Pry cover - 1 - with (80 - 200) from floor covering.
- Raise floor covering - 2 - slightly in ground wire area.
- Remove nut - 3 - and remove ground wire - 4 - on ground point.
- Pry the covers - 1 - and - 3 - out of floor covering using the (80 - 200).
- Pry cover - 3 - with (80 - 200) from floor covering.
- Remove both front screws - 1 - on driver's seat console and tip console - 2 - up.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 5 - by pressing catch and rotating retaining bracket.
- Remove the ground (GND) wire - 3 - to battery from Energy Management Control Module (J644).
- First remove cap nut - 4 - and then cap nut - 1 -.
- Remove Energy Management Control Module - item 2 -.
Installing
When installing, always heed the following sequence, otherwise proper function of Energy Management Control Module cannot be guaranteed.
1. Connect Energy Management Control Module - item 2 - to body by installing cap nut - 1 - and tightening.
2. Tighten cap nut - 4 -.
3. Install ground (GND) wire - 3 - to battery on Energy Management Control Module.
4. Connect electrical harness connector - 5 - to Energy Management Control Module.
5. Connect ground (GND) wire to battery.
6. Perform necessary steps after connecting battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Install console with driver's seat.
Code the Energy Management Control Module, if it was replaced, in "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing & Information System (VAS5051B).
