Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair






Heated Oxygen Sensor (G39) with Oxygen Sensor Heater (Z19)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ring Spanner 7-Piece Set (3337)

Removing

- Remove engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Service and Repair.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - for the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39) from the bracket.






- Disconnect the connector and free up the wire to the oxygen sensor.

- Remove the oxygen sensor - 5 - using a tool from the (3337).






Installing

Note the following when installing:

New oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body.

For a used oxygen sensor, only coat threads with hot bolt paste. This paste must not come into contact with oxygen sensor slots. Hot bolt paste, refer to the Parts Catalog.

Always install the oxygen sensor wire in the same location so it does not come into contact with the exhaust pipe.
